MISD health services conduct state-mandated health screenings. Hearing, vision, and spinal screenings are done according to law, and students are referred to their healthcare provider if the results are not within the normal limits.

First Aid: All clinic staff are trained by the American Heart Association in CPR and First Aid. If a student is injured at school and requires medical care, the parent/guardian is responsible for the expense.
Medication Administration Form
Any student required to have specialized physical healthcare services during the school day must follow the following procedures:
• Have a written statement from the physician with procedures and schedule
• A parent/guardian must sign a consent form for the school nurse to perform the procedure
• The parent/guardian shall provide all necessary supplies
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for Malakoff ISD functions in compliance with the Texas Education Code, Section 28.004. The purpose is to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district's health education instruction. The specific duties of SHAC include making recommendations related to health education curriculum and hours of instruction, nutrition and fitness education, appropriate methods for instruction of human sexuality (sexual health), and strategies for a coordinated school health and safety program.
