Malakoff ISD Special Programs Department

The Special Programs Department assists with the coordination and implementation of a variety of school district special programs and initiatives. We are committed to providing the support that affords the students the academic and decision-making skills that are vital for life beyond high school. It is our goal to ensure Malakoff ISD students in all special programs maximize their potential for academic and social/emotional success, career readiness, and post-secondary education and to become responsible citizens in the community. It is our intent to ensure staff are trained to meet the needs of our students and are devoted to their success.

Special Programs include Section 504, Gifted & Talented, Special Education, Response to Intervention, Dyslexia, Migrant, and Homeless.

If you suspect your child may have a disability as outlined in the Texas Education Code, please contact your child’s campus administrator. It is important to remember that the TEA requires public schools to use their eligibility criteria and not the medical criteria. Malakoff offers students services for Section 504, Dyslexia, Gifted and Talented, and Special Education. All services are provided free of charge and eligibility criteria must be met before the student can receive services. Please call Laurie Holcombe, Director of Special Populations at 903. 489.1387.

District Coordinators include the following:
